Awesome but crashes

Great game, but you cannot save your progress (quicksave doesnt work), so you have to restart at the last save point when you die. This is tedious as it could be a fair bit back.
I also started getting crashes with the error "Exceeded maximum number of script variables", which results in a white screen and game crash. This happens like clockwork every time I die now.
Fix that bug and the game would be pure awesome.

It runs like butter with all settings maxed at 2560x1440 on my 27" i7 iMac with 12GB RAM.
